With signed browned twist barrels cut with five shallow grooves, engraved 'Metford's Patent 131' at the breech, and with windage adjustable hooded fore-sight, scroll engraved case-hardened patent breech engraved with Metford emblem and with platinum plug, scroll engraved case-hardened tang fitted with signed blued Vernier folding peep-sight adjustable to 4° 10', signed case-hardened lock finely engraved with scrollwork, figured walnut half-stock, chequered pistol-grip and fore-end, each with horn-cap, blued scroll engraved trigger-guard and barrel-bolt escutcheons, and some original finish, the heel of the butt originally fitted with a further peep-sight: in contemporary canvas-covered case with trade label (stained) and some accessories including Dixon leather-covered flask stamped 'Metford Rifle/Gibbs Bristol', and leather-covered fitted box containing sights (some later), nipple key (replaced) and spirit level, the outside of the lid stamped 'Metford Rifle Sights/G. Gibbs, Bristol.', London proof marks
