A cased .577 two-band percussion officer's rifle

With signed blued barrel cut with five shallow grooves and with bayonet lug on the right side of the muzzle, blued adjustable back-sight calibrated to 1,100 yards, case-hardened octagonal patent breech, case-hardened border engraved tang, signed case-hardened border engraved lock, figured walnut three-quarter stock, chequered grip and fore-end, case-hardened border engraved trigger-guard and butt-plate, silver escutcheon engraved with initials, crest and motto, case-hardened barrel bands and fore-end cap, sling swivels, original iron ramrod and snap-cap on iron chain, and much original finish: in fitted oak case (partly relined) with accessories (some later) including socket bayonet and scabbard, together with a copy of the 1859 'Drill and Rifle Instruction for the Corps of Rifle Volunteers' booklet, the lid with trade label, the exterior (cracked) with brass escutcheon engraved with the same initials, crest and motto as the rifle, London proof marks
