The rectangular gilt brass dial with Roman and Arabic silvered chapter ring with sword-hilt half hour intermarkers, typical pierced blued steel hands, the finely matted centre with mock pendulum aperture, double-screwed female mask-and-foliate spandrels, twin subsidiary rings for pendulum regulation and strike/silent flanking the signature engraved Tompion & Banger, London, latches to the dial feet and to the seven ringed pillars of the twin gut fusee movement with verge escapement with spring-suspended pendulum pinned to the brass rise and fall bar, pull quarter repeat on Tompion's system via interconnecting chamfered steel double-cocked levers, the backplate profusely engraved with scrolling foliage and signed Tompion & Banger, London and punch numbered at the base 459, the case with cushion-moulded top surmounted by a foliate-cast giltmetal handle, foliate pierced ebony soundfrets to the front door and glazed sides, the front door with foliate gilt-metal escutcheons and stamped on the inside sill 459, the moulded base on simple block feet
