etching with drypoint and engraving, 1648, third (final) state, a later impression, with thread margins or trimmed on or just within the platemark, a tear at the left and lower sheet edges extending approx. 20mm. into the subject, a few other tears and nicks at the sheet edges, some wash additions to the man in the doorway, the upper right corner made up, staining, laid at the upper and lower edges, other defects
