A BRONZE BIRD-FORM FINIAL
LATE SHANG DYNASTY

Hollow cast as a plump bird with small beak and eyes, with two different types of feathers on the wings and bands of chevron pattern to delineate the feathers of the extended tail, the slender legs cast on either side of the cylindrical socket which forms the base, with a mottled pale green and olive surface
