A RENAISSANCE REVIVAL CARVED AND VENEERED WALNUT SOFA, attributed to John Jelliff (1813-1893), Newark, New Jersey, 1860-1870, the three-part back with a scroll-carved and pierced central crestrail centering a circular medallion with a relief-carved portrait bust flanked by circular carved cabochon over a trapezoidal tufted upholstered back all flanked by bowed crestrails with circular carved cabochon ears over a trapezoidal tufted upholstered back joined by carved embellishments, continuing to outward bowed arms on downsloping relief-carved portrait bust armsupport over a shaped over-upholstered seat with serpentine front and exposed veneered frontrail, on ring-turned tapering legs with castors, (repairs to back legs)--44in. high, 78½in. wide, 34in. deep
