A SET OF THREE RENAISSANCE REVIVAL CARVED AND VENEERED WALNUT CHAIRS, attributed to John Jelliff (1813-1893), Newark, New Jersey, 1860-1870, comprising: one armchair and two sidechairs, the armchair with scroll-carved and pierced crestrail centering a circular medallion with a relief-carved portrait bust above an oval tufted upholstered back with carved oval cabochon ears continuing to outward bowed arms, on downswept armsupports with relief-carved portrait busts above a balloon seat with bowed and exposed front rail with shaped drop pendant, on ring-turned tapering legs with castors; the sidechairs, each with similarily embellished crestrail above an oval tufted uphostered back over an upholstered balloon seat with similarily embellished bowed front rail, on ring-turned tapering feet with castors--43in. high, the armchair; 40in. high, the sidechairs (3)
