A black and white phaser pistol used during the first season of the television series; the black and white version of the hand prop was used prior to the pieces being designed in color. The phaser ("photon amplification by stimulated emission of radiation") pistol was worn openly on the uniform belt of the crew of the Starship Enterprise. The piece is constructed of a hand phaser snapped into a pistol mount, the handle of which is a power pack that greatly increases the phaser's range and power. The pistol has a number of speciality settings which permitted it to be used as a cutting torch, welding tool, etc.
