A Wedgwood & Bentlet white terracotta 'porphyry' oviform vase
with a gadrooned body and spirally fluted neck, the twin-handles formed as two draped female heads above shoulders applied with aband of drapery swags on a sponged blue/grey ground, on a spreading circular foot above a square black basalt base moulded with bandsof acanthus leaves, impressed WEDGWOOD & BENTLEY ETRURIA wafer mark -- 10½in. (26.7cm.) high, circa 1775, fitted for electricity
