Of hexagonal section with two archaistic phoenix handles, the base cast with a Xuande seal mark, the stand with short cabriole legs at the angles with ruyi feet braced by a continuous stretcher, the bronze with a pleasing deep brown patina

The shape of this vase relates to examples in porcelain, such as the slightly smaller ge-type hexagonal vase, bearing a Yongzheng mark, sold in these Rooms, 29 April 1996, lot 735.
