A VERY FINELY PAINTED BLUE AND WHITE PEAR-SHAPED VASE
ENCIRCLED YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

The slightly compressed waist finely penciled in vibrant tones of underglaze-blue with a continuous scene of figures within a rockwork garden beneath pine and bats in flight, two in discussion, one racing to meet them, a last seated in contemplation, with further rocks, trees and lingzhi at the waisted neck, and formal borders to the shoulder and wide splayed foot beween raised bands (small rim chip)

The overtly painterly quality of the decoration which recalls a style more expected on a certain group of famille rose wares may be compared with a vase illustrated in An Anthology of Chinese Art, Min Chu Society Silver Jubilee Exhibition, p. 379, no. 173.
