The pendant carved as two cranes in mirror image with beaks and wings touching, above cloud scrolls, the wings and feathers well defined, the stone of even white tone (tiny nick)
2 1/2 in. (6.5 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

An almost identical pendant from the Palace Museum, Beijing, dated to the Song dynasty, is illustrated in Chongguo Yuqi Quanji, Sui, Tang-Ming Dynasties, Vol. 5, col. pl. 86.
