Lot Essay

Several different style of harpoon gun appear to have been used in Thunderball. The example in this lot matches up to the one seen in James Bond's [Sean Connery] hand when he is on board the U.S. Coast Guard helicopter with Felix Leiter [Rik Van Nutter] putting on his diving gear and then when Bond goes into battle with the U.S. Aquaparatroopers against the SPECTRE divers. (see illustration). This particular harpoon gun actually came out of Ken Adam's office at Pinewood and is pictured in a still of Adam working at his desk on the window sill beside Oddjob's hat. (See Lit. ref.)
