A LURISTAN WHETSTONE AND BRONZE HANDLE
EARLY 1ST MILLENNIUM B.C.
The whetstone of cream stone drilled at top and joined to handle by bronze pin, the handle in the form of a leaping caprid with high loop horns, its legs tucked beneath it, 7.15/16 in. (20 cm.) long; a bronze whetstone handle terminating in well modelled arched neck and head of a goat with smaller goat head beneath it, attachment holes at collar, 4½ in. (11.5 cm.) long; a bronze axehead with flared blade with incised geometric decoration, the cylindrical shaft with four ridges leading to four thick spikes, 7 in. (18 cm.) long; and a bronze pick-axehead, the short shaft tube edged by ridges and protuding butt in the form of three thick spikes, 8½ in. (21.5 cm.) long, both 2nd millenium B.C. (4)
