A large Chinese blue and white baluster jar and cover
Kangxi (1662-1722)
Painted around the exterior with flowering chrysanthemum and spreading branches of peony and prunus trees issuing from pierced rockwork behind a bamboo garden fence, between a broad washed-blue ruyi-lappet collar picked out with dense foliage on the sloping shoulders and a band around the foot of lappets enclosing each a floral motif on a similar ground, the domed finial decorated similarly and surmounted by knop finial (some restoration)
