A KUTCH GILT COPPER MOUNTED ARAB DAGGER (JAMBIYA)
WEST INDIA, LATE 19TH CENTURY
The angled tapering double-edged steel blade with medial ridge, the waisted gilt-copper hilt with rounded top and medial boss worked in repoussé with overall fine floral sprays and flowering vine on a ring-pounced ground, the red velvet covered wooden sheath with gilt- copper mounts similarly decorated, the lower terminal in the form of a large flowerhead, gilding slightly rubbed, blade with traces of light corrosion
