Lot Essay

The decoration on the present bottle is comparable to that of a larger carafe found in the tomb of Princess Chenguo in Naiman, Inner Mongolia who died in 1018 AD (Jiayao, An: 'Dated Islamic Glass in China' Bulletin of the Asia Institute, n.s., 5(1991), pp.123-137, esp. fig.12, p.121).
