Dancers from India also performed in Paris in the early twentieth century. It is interesting to note the similarities, for instance, between the costumes worn by the male dancer Ouday Chankar and those seen in the earlier performances of the Ballets Russes. Clearly, the performers from abroad were welcomed as a source of inspiration in costume design and choreography.
