FIRST EDITION, offprint issue. PRESENTATION COPY TO MICHAEL FARADAY. This offprint reprints two papers by Daniell, both written as letters to Michael Faraday, and read before the Royal Society in February and April, 1836. It contains the first announcement of the "Daniell Cell," which "was able to function unimpaired for long periods of time, thus giving a great boost to both electrical research and to the commercial applications of electricity" (Norman).
