maker's mark of Gebrder Schrödel, the liner maker's mark GMH in script, probably for Gotthelf Moritz Hauptvogel, Dresden, circa 1770
Shaped oval and on four fluted tapering cylindrical feet, each cast and chased with wreath, the sides applied with openwork foliage swags and festoons and two cartouches, one with dead game, the other with a cockerel, hen and chicks, the scroll handles with foliage and tied drop-rings and applied classical masks and flowers, with waved moulded rim, the cover with similarly applied foliage swags and festoons and large artichoke, melon, brocolli and foliage finial, with associated two-handled detachable plain liner, the base engraved with the initial B with coronet above, marked on base and cover, with date letter ?J the liner with date letter B
