Lot Essay

The arms are unidentified, but are very probably those of a Dutch family. It has been suggested that the they are those of the town of The Hague, however they are not. Another dish of this design was exhibited in Brussels, 1989-9, Chinese Export Porcelain, Cat. no. 123, pp. 296 and 297, and one was offered in our London Rooms, 1 December 1997, part lot 423.
