Lot Essay

Fripp was the grandson of Nicholas Pocock, O.W.S. (1740-1821) and trained under Samuel Jackson (1794-1869), starting his career as a portrait painter in Bristol. Fripp undertook a tour of the continent from 1834 to 1835 in the company of William James Muller (1812-1845), see lot 99.
