Small 2° (297 x 203mm). 2 finely engraved allegorical titles by Roberto Cordier and one engraved portrait (slightly browned throughout, vol. I p. 121/122 slightly torn during printing process, occasional slight waterstain in outer margins). Contemporary limp vellum, boldly marked in ink on spines (without the ties).

FIRST EDITION of the important work of Spanish colonial jurisprudence. In 1609 Solorzano was appointed judge of the audience of Lima and became the leading Spanish colonial jurist in the seventeenth century, instituting a number of reforms and improvements to the administration and tribunals.
