LINCOLN, BENJAMIN. American Revolutionary officer. Autograph letter signed ("B Lincoln"), to John Lowell Esq., Peeks Kill, 27 June 1781. 4 pages, 4to. Lincoln, having raised a Militia to march south for the Yorktown Campaign, seeks the support of his influential friend. He expresses concern over: "the fluctuating and uncertain state of the paper currency," which is hindering his Campaign: "Too much I think depends on the operations of this Campaign...The distracted state we are thrown into by a paper medium at a time when we have an army to raise, supplies to be provided and large debts to pay...will try the fortitude, patience and skill of every patriot."
