Please note that this is NOT a Vauxhall saucer, but probably Chaffer's, Liverpool, circa 1758.

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Townsend.

The miniature tea service from which the above lot is taken was made for a daughter of John Thomas Townsend, 2nd Viscount Sydney, either Georgina, later to become State Houskeeper at Windsor Castle or Mary Elizabeth, who later married the 2nd Earl of Chatham.
