The pagoda case with chinoiserie designs to the front pilasters, the side panels with gilt and incised relief scenes against a silvered ground, depicting respectively a woman and a small boy on a balcony amidst bamboo, the woman with a spyglass to her eye, the other showing a pair of women toiling in a paddy field, the two-tone gilt and silvered mask cast in relief with birds amidst flowers, with silvered Roman chapter ring with Arabic five minutes, blued spade hands, the front of the case with inscription IN MEMORY MARCH 19TH 1878, the twin barrel movement with silvered platform to the bimetallic balance with lever escapement, strike/repeat on two gongs to the backplate stamped for Achille Brocot and numbered 641
