A George III mahogany longcase clock with alarm, third quarter 18th century
The case with pagoda top hood with brass ball and spire finials to the sides and central silk-backed fret panel (replaced), glazed side panels, with outset brass stop-fluted columns, the breakarch trunk door with moulded frame, on panelled plinth with (later) stepped base, the brass dial with gilt mask and foliate spandrels to the silvered chapter ring, matted centre with silvered seconds ring and central alarm disc, signed on a plaque above the date aperture John Berry LONDON, later blued steel hands, with strike/silent ring in the arch, later hand, the five pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement (bell broken), alarm work with pulley on crown wheel with vertical verge and double-ended hammer
