A paint box by J Newmans of Soho Square, 19th Century,
with removable tray for 24 paints; fitted alloy box containing chalks and charcoal; 2 cylindrical cut glass brush-pots; a porcelain mixing palett; two further boxes of charcoals; a pair of cut glass paint bottles, and various other artists' materials; the inside of the lid with a black leather panel decorated centrally with a Gothic building, surrounded by Gothic motifs; a drawer with recessed brass handle beneath the main part of the box -- 12 x 9 1/8 x 3 3/4 in. (30.5 x 23.2 x 9.5 cm.)
