A RARE FAMILLE VERTE MONTEITH
Kangxi period, early 18th century
Modelled after a European silver form with steep sides and deeply notched rim formed of eight petal shapes, each painted with a different Chinese countryside scene showing fishermen with nets or barrels or poling their sampans, all reserved on a ground of cell patterns decorated with chrysanthemum heads, the interior with a deep border of lappets suspending ruyi heads or floral sprigs, a boy riding a water buffalo in the center
