A LOUIS XV BEAUVAIS TAPESTRY PANEL
Circa 1746
Woven in wools and silks, depicting to the centre a lamb perched on a stepped pedestal supported by foliate leaves and a central jewelled cabochon within a scrolled foliate frame with wheat shafts and poppies, surmounted by a baldaquin hung from a scrolling canopy with grapes and flanked by flaming urns, above a basket of grapes and foliate scrolls and a guilloche band, inscribed to the lower edge 'DONNE PAR IEAN.B.RANSON.EN 1746.', within a later blue outer slip, minor reweaving and patching, the lower guilloche band possibly associated, mounted on a stretcher, strengthened with glue
