The rectangular top with a pierced three-quarter gallery, above three frieze drawers, the plain panelled roll top opening to reveal a fitted interior with an open compartment above three drawers and a pull-out tan-coloured and gilt-tooled leather-lined writing slide, the lower section with three frieze drawers, the lock-plate of the central drawer engraved Vve P. SORMANI & FILS/10 r. Charlot Paris, on circular tapering fluted legs and turned feet

See previous lot for a note on Paul Sormani. On the latter's death, the firm was taken over by his widow, and later his son, finally ceasing trade in 1934.
