A Meissen coffee-cup and saucer
Circa 1740, blue crossed swords marks, Pressnummer 2 to saucer, gilder's 88,, to both
The cup with gilt double-scroll handle and painted with vignettes in schwarzlot, one side with boating figures before a fortified shoreline, the other with figures before distant ruins, both within shaped quatrefoil gilt and Bttger-lustre cartouches enriched with purple and brown scrolling foliage, the saucer similarly painted with figures on a frozen river, the interior of the cup and the rim of the saucer with borders of interlocking gilt scrolling foliage (slight wear to gilt rims)
