Ferdinand Bury (1740-1795), also known simply as Ferdinand, favoured the use of exotic timbers from the West Indies. A commode, formerly in the collection of Isaac de Camondo, and now in the Louvre is stamped by both Bury and Riesener, appearing to indicate a collaborative effort.
An almost identical version of this table was sold from the Collection of Mme C. Lelong, Galerie Georges Petit, Paris, 27 April - 1 May 1903, lot 941.
