Engraved title hand-coloured and heightened in gilt, 58 maps, 57 double-page, 3 half-page illustrations, all hand-coloured, text illustrations. (Some maps and text leaves very slightly browned). Contemporary Dutch vellum gilt, gilt edges, green silk fore-edge ties (extremities lightly rubbed, ties defective).
A fine copy of the fourth volume of Blaeu's Theatrum. The county maps of England and Wales in this atlas set a standard of engraving and carographical design that was not surpassed by any English mapmaker until the work of John Cary and Christopher and John Greenwood in the early 19th century.
