The case with later skirting to the plinth inlaid with typical seaweed marquetry, convex moulding beneath the rectangular trunk door with gilt-framed lenticle and similarly inlaid with seaweed marquetry, later escutcheon, the flat top hood with gilt-wood-capped -columns, the 12 in. sq. dial signed Peter Mallet, London on the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, the gilt matted centre with decorated calendar aperture, ringed winding holes and subsidiary seconds ring, cherub-and-crown spandrels, the four ringed pillar (fifth pillar removed) movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell
