A William and Mary walnut month-going longcase clock

The case on bun feet with typical early convex moulding beneath the trunk door, spoon-and-lock securing mechanism behind the convex throat moulding securing the hood with gilt-brass capped columns and later pierced wood sound frets to the flat top, the 10 in. sq. dial signed Johannes Knibb Oxoniae Fecit beneath the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with finely pierced and sculpted blued steel hands, the finely matted centre with a delicate silvered seconds ring below XII and calendar aperture above VI flanked by the low-positioned winding squares, "fat" winged cherub spandrels within acanthus border engraving, latches to the four dial feet and to the movement's five ringed pillars, the going train with anchor escapement and butterfly-nut regulated pendulum, the second wheel arbors cut with an unusual balustrade design, outside countwheel strike on bell above; with restorations
