A PAIR OF CARVED CINNABAR LACQUER CABINETS ON STANDS
18th century
Each of stepped shape, the central section with two hinged doors, between two horizontal drawers at the top and another at the base, supported on a waisted pedestal stand with splayed cloud-shaped feet, overall deeply carved with a dense lotus meander on a trellis-pattern ground, the sides and door panels of the central section carved with warriors on horseback engaged in a lively combat scene amidst a mountainous landscape with maple and pine trees, the drawers each carved with Precious objects, the back gilt-decorated with a blossoming peony issuing from rockwork on a plain black lacquer ground, minor repairs
