A GERMAN GOLD-MOUNTED BLONDE TORTOISESHELL JEWEL CASKET
Circa 1740
Shaped rectangular, the hinged raised cover piqu pos and piqu point in gold with ruins and buildings in a landscape within scroll, foliage, scalework and trelliswork cartouche and similar outer band, the sides with four similarly piqu architectural scenes in cartouches, the angles with twisted columns carved in the round and partly enclosed by piqu foliage, the base further piqu with two bands of scrolls, the interior with detachable pin tray with incurved corners and central small baluster handle and piqu with scrolling foliage and trelliswork
