MCC SOUTH AFRICA TOUR 1956-57. Offical MCC headed paper with the team and managers name printed, which has then been signed by the players, 255 x 210mm., unframed.
The test series was another tight and exhilarating contest, with the touring side winning the first two tests only for South Africa to win the last two Test matches sandwiched with a draw in Durban. Reports of the series are dominated by dogged batting by both sides, and tight bowling especially from the South African bowler Tayfield who at one stage on a rather poor Durban wicket bowled one hundred and seven delivers without been scored off in succession. The series was also notable for having the first 'handled ball' dismissal in test history, when the South African Russell Endean was given out after a Laker delivery bounced towards him and he pushed it away using his hand.
