by Bancks 440 Strand London, the principal microscope of Jones's Most Improved pattern, the body-tube supported on a limb over the square-section pillar, with rack and pinion adjustment for the stage, with accessories including forceps, frog plate, lieberkuhn, live-box and other items, the lower section with plano-concave mirror, with compass joint on folding tripod stand; the solar microscope signed Bancks, 440. Strand, LONDON, with gear adjustment for the mirror, with mounting screws, body-tube, with rack and pinion focusing, supplementary objective lenses numbered 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6, five (of six) objectives and other items including an ivory canister for rings and mica discs, contained in the original fitted mahogany case with maker's trade label -- 16in.
