A late 18th-Century French brass compound monocular microscope,
signed on the body-tube DELLEBARRE and dated 1790, the body-tube located on a square-section limb, with fore and aft adjustment, the eared stage with steel slide clamps, mounted with specimen forceps, the square-section pillar with rack adjustment for the stage, the lower section with mounting for condenser and plano-concave mirror, the vertical pillar hinged at the centre in order that the instrument may be used in the horizontal, with folding tripod stand, the cabriole legs terminating in pad feet, with various accessories, contained in a mahogany and oak carrying case -- 13in. (33cm.) wide
