The movement by Anthonie van Oostrom (1722-1768), Amsterdam, second hald 18th Century
The scally-banded case with canted angles, on claw-and-ball feet, the rectangular trunk door with hollowed corners, with a glazed lenticle overlaid with a brass mount with Europe and the Bull, the hood with sound-frets and acanthus clasp, the concave moulded caddy top with carved giltwood figural finials, the dial signed Antoni van Oostrom/Amsterdam on the silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic chapters, pierced steel hands, the matted centre with two ringed winding holes and silvered seconds ring, with aperture for the days of the weeks and their corresponding deities, and with date aperture, pierced foliate brass spandrels with female masks, surmounted by a silvered arch engraved with a lady and a gentleman in traditional dress situated in a landscape, with moonphase aperture with silvered rolling moon, and month aperture above, the four pillar movement with Dutch strike on one bell, movement and case possibly associated, restorations
