Title in red and black, instructions to the binder slip pasted on verso of final leaf. Engraved additional title, 39 maps, plans and plates, 5 folding and 28 double-page, 57 engraved illustrations. (Small repairs to outer blank margins of a few leaves.) Contemporary Dutch speckled calf, spine gilt in seven compartments with raised bands, lettered in the second, the others with repeat pattern of stylised foliage around a central lozenge-stamp (light scuffing to joints).
