[With:] an English translation of the same work, dated 1823 extracted from a larger collection of voyages (no.LIV, vol.IX), modern leather-backed boards.
A RARE WORK, this copy with both the maps which are usually lacking. This account of a privately financed trading voyage by the 200-ton Bordelais under the command of M. Camille de Rocquefeuil, a naval officer, left France on 11 October, 1816 and travelled via Cape Horn. The Captain endeavoured to buy 'Otter' skins from the Americas and Sandalwood from the Marquesas for sale to the Chinese. The voyage was not a great success in commercial terms but the circumnavigation was completed in 37 months and 2 days. (3)
