A LARGE KHORASSAN SILVER AND COPPER INLAID BRONZE BASIN

The flat base with rounded sides recurving to the flaring eighteen-sided cusped rim, the centre with a small repouss rosette, the lobes alternately inlaid in silver and copper, surrounded by a dense engraved hexagonal lattice of strapwork enclosing panels of scrolling vine around silver inlaid crescent roundels, in a narrow border of stylised repeated kufic inscriptions in an outer inverted arcaded border, the sides with a broad band of naskh repeated stylised inscriptions with human headed hastae and silver-inlaid crescent roundels, a band of continuous meandering leafy vine along the rim, slight restorations to sides
