The Kimberley Medal was organised by the Town authorities and was the forerunner of the Kimberley Star. It was struck in England but never issued, as it had to be melted by the authorities owing to their unsanctioned use of the Royal Cypher on the reverse of the Medal. It is not known how many were struck but few have survived.
