Alexander Milligan was the War Correspondent of the Natal Mercury and its Editor for a short period before his death in 1913. His entry in South African Who's Who 1912 states that 'He represented that journal at the Native Rebellion in Mozambique Province in 1894, the Jameson Raid, opening of the Bulawayo Railway, and during the S.A. War (1899-1902).' His despatches can be found in the pages of the Natal Mercury.
