Trooper Claud James Rivett-Carnac was wounded during the siege of Wepener.
Educated at Wellington, he succeeded to the Rivett-Carnac Baronetcy in June 1909 and subsequently disappeared, as noted in Burke's Peerage, Baronetage and Knightage:
'Sir Claud James Rivett-Carnac, 4th Bt., late Cape Mounted Rifles: served in the South African War ... Born 21.12.1877. Sir Claud had been missing for many years, and on 11.3.1924 an order was issued in the Chancery Division giving leave to presume his death as on 31.12.1909.'
