A Large Porcelain Dish
European (18th-19th Century)
Painted in polychrome enamels and gilt over transparent glaze in Kakiemon-style with a stand of chrysanthemums, rocks and a flying bird in the cavetto, and with sprays of plum, hawthorne and pomegranates separated by three small butterflies on the extended lip, the underside undecorated, rim glazed in manganese; German, Meissen factory crossed-swords mark in underglaze-blue on base; porcelain probably circa 1740, enamels possibly later-applied
