Arita Ware, Kakiemon Style, Edo Period (Circa 1700)
With deep well and eight-lobed perimeter with a reverse-ogee profile, moulded in low relief below the undulating petal rim with the 'Three Friends' (Shochikubai), pine, bamboo and plum, and painted in polychrome enamels over clear glaze with cherry boughs and florets, the outer walls enamelled with long and delicate peony sprays on opposite sides of the bowl, the rim glazed in iron-oxide
